About us

With a fleet of around 100 buses and 21 routes, the WVG keeps Wolfsburg moving. The local public transport company is a fully owned subsidiary of Stadtwerke Wolfsburg AG and employs around 260 people. With a dense route network that was completely overhauled in October 2014, the WVG ensures that just under 40,000 people reach their destination every day – comfortably, quickly and safely. In the process, the company’s vehicles cover five million kilometers per year.

Wolfsburg’s first bus route was launched in 1940. At the time, Wolfsburg was still a small town with just 5,000 inhabitants. At the beginning of 1975, when Wolfsburg’s population had grown to 140,000, local public transport was spun off from Stadtwerke Wolfsburg AG. Wolfsburger Verkehrs-GmbH, a legally independent subsidiary company, was then established.

The WVG has been cooperating with other transport companies in the region since 1978. Nowadays, it is a partner in the Verbundtarif Region Braunschweig (VRB), the ticketing system for the Braunschweig region. With just one ticket, passengers can use all services provided by partners in the Gifhorn, Goslar, Helmstedt, Peine and Wolfenbüttel districts and in the cities of Braunschweig, Salzgitter and Wolfsburg.

The use of dynamic passenger information systems, programs for shorter journey times and a modern vehicle fleet makes the services even more attractive.
